Hello High School Families, 

Several important pieces of information as we wrap up 2024 and move into the new year and new semester in January!

Keystone Exams will be administered for students currently enrolled in Algebra 1, Biology, Honors Biology, English 10, and Honors English 10, as well as students who need to retest in order to achieve a proficient score. Students who need to retest were sent an email by Dr. Kopco earlier this week. Keystones will administered as follows:

  • Literature (English 10 and Honors English 10) - Monday, January 6, and Tuesday, January 7, 2025. 

  • Algebra - Wednesday, January 8 and Thursday, January 9, 2025

  • Biology (Biology and Honors Biology) - Monday, January 13 and Tuesday, January 14

  • Make-Ups will be completed on Friday, January 10, Wednesday, January 15, and Thursday, January 16

Additional Calendar Reminders:

For WASHS Students:

  • WASD is now closed for winter break. Schools will reopen on Monday, January 6, 2025. 

  • The WASHS Office will be open from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm on Monday, December 23 and on Friday, January 3, 2025.

  • Tuesday, January 14 is the last day of 2nd marking period. Classes that run for a semester will end on the 14th. 

  • Wednesday, January 15 is the first day of 2nd semester/3rd marking period. Many students will have new classes starting on the 15th. 

  • Students should check their Sapphire portal to obtain a copy of their schedule - printed copies will NOT be distributed to students at school. Students interested in a possible schedule change (semester-long classes only) are encouraged to make an appointment with their counselor for early January. 

For FALL Career Tech students:

  • FCCTC is closed December 23, 2024 - January 2, 2025

  • January 3, 2025 will be a Home-based CT day

  • Tuesday, Jan 14 will be students’ last day at CT

  • Wednesday, Jan 15 will be student’s first day at WASHS for second semester

For NJROTC Students:

  • Same winter break schedule as WASD.

Semester change info for SPRING CareerTech students:

  • Tuesday, Jan 14 will be students’ last day at WASHS

  • Students will be OFF on Wednesday, Jan 15 and Thursday, January 16 due to the calendar differences between WASHS and CT

  • Monday, January 21 will be the first day at CT for Spring students

WASHS Student Lighthouse Team is sponsoring a Winter Semi-Formal Dance on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 7-10:00 pm in the WASHS Cafeteria.

  • Inclement weather date is Saturday, January 25, 2025.

  • Like other WASHS dances, enrolled students must meet the Dance Expectations in order to attend.

  • Outside guests from other high schools and graduates under age 21 must follow an approval process in order to attend. WASHS Guest Form (note - we are now using 1 form for either type of guest. Please read the directions and complete the appropriate sections). Guest forms are due no later than 3:00 pm on Friday, January 10, 2025.

  • Tickets will be $10 each and will be on sale as follows:

    • During lunches beginning on Thursday, January 9 through Wednesday, January 14.

    • Tickets will be sold after school (must be in line by 3:00 pm) on Thursday, January 9 and Wednesday, January 14.

    • There will be no ticket sales on Thursday, January 15 due to the early dismissal, Friday, January 16 as schools are closed, or at the door.

  • ALL WASHS STUDENTS ATTENDING WINTER FORMAL MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 16, which is an early dismissal day. (This does not apply to Spring, CT students)

A message for Juniors and Seniors - we have changed the date of this year’s Prom to Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Green Grove Gardens. More details will be shared in the new year.

A message for Seniors - Mrs. Mendez-Murphy began her maternity leave today. She will be off through mid-March. We are excited to welcome back Mrs. Elizabeth Baer, retired WASHS counselor, as her sub!  She can be reached via email at elizabeth_baer@wasdpa.org
