Hello WASHS families!
First Marking Period Progress Reports will be posted to the Sapphire Community Web Portal after school tomorrow, Friday, September 22. Given our block schedule, many of our courses are now one semester long so the progress report represents how your child is doing one quarter of the way through many of their courses. If you have questions or concerns about your child’s grade, please email their teacher. If you need assistance with your Community Portal Account, please contact the WASHS main office.
WASHS will hold fall family/teacher conferences on Thursday, October 5 from 3-7:00 pm. If you’d like to schedule a conference, please email your child’s teacher. Please note that conferences are available in person or virtually.
We will have our first pep rally of the year tomorrow, Friday, September 22 to begin our homecoming celebration and recognize our fall sports and extracurricular activities. Students who do not have a full schedule are welcome to join us at 1:45 pm to participate. Please enter through the main office, sign in, and then head to the gym.
Homecoming Dance ticket sales began during lunches today and will continue through next Thursday, September 28. Tickets can also be purchased after school on Friday, September 22 or Tuesday, September 26. No ticket sales at the door. Cost is $10 per ticket. Learners must meet the posted expectations to purchase a ticket and must present the signed expectations form (including parent/guardian signature and student signature) when purchasing a ticket.
If your child is attending the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, September 30, please review the dress expectations on the expectations form. Students will be turned away to change if they arrive in attire that does not align with the dress expectations. Additional reminders about Homecoming weekend will be shared next week.
Official Score Reports from the Spring, 2023 PSSAs (for grade 9, taken during their 8th grade year) and Keystones (for students in grades 9-12 who took Keystones in the spring) will be distributed to learners by the end of the next week during PLT (fall CT learners will receive their reports on the bus). A score of proficient or advanced on all three Keystones will satisfy each learner’s Graduation requirements set by the PA Department of Education in compliance with PA Act 158 of 2018. You can learn more about Act 158 in our monthly newsletters.
Act 158 outlines three pathways to graduation. We will begin sharing letters with members of the Class of 2024 as to their status towards Act 158 requirements this week. If you have questions about this letter, please email the Class of 2024 counselor, Ms. Eddy.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and have a good evening.
