Underclassmen are picking out their courses for next year, and the due dates for each class are coming up soon! Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors each received a paper on which to fill out their courses. With so many choices to choose from, there are quite a few that have been favorites here at the high school. Some favorite courses to take at the high school are Journalism, AP Physics II, Photography, Fashion, U.S. in War, and AP Language and Composition.
Colby Smith mentioned that his favorite class he has taken at the high school is journalism. He said, “I thought it was cool when we would talk about real-world problems, and I would see everyone’s opinions about it and everyone in the class was different which made the discussions fun.” Journalism is taught by Mrs. Dickey for a half credit as a prerequisite for Tribe Time.
Megan Miller said that her favorite class is AP Physics II. She said that “it explains how things work in the world around me and has made me eager to learn more.” She is now going to pursue a physics-based career. AP Physics II is taught by Mrs. Lindsay Baker as a continuation of AP Physics I.
Aidan Coulter said that his favorite elective he has taken at the high school has been photography, and he “would highly recommend” it to anyone interested in a more artistic class. Photography is taught by Mrs. Erb as a half credit.
William Boltz said that his favorite elective class he has taken at the high school is U.S. in War. He said, “I enjoy learning about history,” and he said that the teacher always made it an interesting and fun class. Michael Skehan also mentioned that he really enjoyed U.S. in War. Mr. Schreiber teaches U.S. in War as a half credit.
Michael Skehan says that his favorite class has been Aerospace and Aviation. He said, “Aviation has always interested me.” This class is different from a lot of electives because it is very geared towards a specific career path. Skehan also said, “Not only are we able to learn about planes and spacecraft, but we also learn Physics too. We learn how and why and what we have done regarding space exploration.” This class is also different from other classes because it is a class that is taken for four years rather than just one. Aerospace and Aviation are taught by Mr. Hile.
Counselors are meeting with learners as they prepare their course selection requests. By working together, students can confidently know they will be all set for next year.
