
Fourth graders had fun participating in a Pound class facilitated by Mrs. Angie Mower, whose children are SV alums!


Today, Third grade learners enjoyed gingerbread day! They read different versions of the gingerbread story and wrote opinion pieces explaining why we shouldn’t be eaten!


We love getting to hear the selections from the WASHS band and chorus!



Many thanks to Ms. Fox for keeping car rider drop off fun, even on a cold morning! Don't forget to pull up all the way to where she is standing so several cars can drop off at the same time!


Dr. McCallum got one more opportunity to play with the band during their performance for grades 2, 3, and 4 today... I hope we got everyone in the picture, it was my first time using a selfie stick!

Trailblazers for 4th and 5th graders is CANCELLED for Monday, December 16.

Learners & staff enjoyed pajama spirit day on Friday, December 14. Learners donated $1 to participate and funds raised will be used to support SV learners in need and were also used to purchase PJs and stuffed animals. These will be donated to Franklin County Children & Youth.


Today we recognized learners for demonstrating the characteristics of Project TEAM character, Harper, who helps others. Traits include: giving compliments, following expectations, being respectful, and being a good friend to all classmates.


Fifth grade learners recently practiced their word solving skills with a "work the room" activity. Mrs. Byers posted word problems around the room of various levels of difficulty.


Our second grade art students made gingerbread people to be displayed at Renfrew’s holiday open house last weekend!


A beautiful evening of music at our Winter concert tonight! Thank you to our chorus director, Mrs. Slick, and our band director, Mrs. Leitzel, for their hard work with our young musicians over the past three months. Here's our 4th and 5th grade chorus. No picture if the band because Mrs. Leitzel invited Dr. McCallum to join the band!

Dr. Kline, WASD Superintendent, presented proposed changes to elementary attendance zones at a public meeting on December 3, 2019. Links to the presentation and documents can be found on the District Website under news.

Continuing their unit on rocks, here are learners in Mrs. Yost's class cutting up Starbursts into "sediments" and then pressing them together to make "sedimentary rocks."


Summitview had it's monthly DRiVE day on last week's early dismissal day. This is a day when teachers are free to plan whatever instructional activities they like in order to support learner choice, mastery, and understanding of the purpose of the unit of instruction. Here are third grade learners from Mr. Lorusso's and Mr. McFarland's classes who created some artwork and a Rock Cycle travel brochure!





Fifth grade learners were scientists during a recent bird beak adaptation lab. Learners made a hypothesis by matching birds to what they believe would be their primary prey based on their beaks.



Mr. Lorusso had some fun playing four square with third grade at recess before break!
