Good evening Summitview families,
1. Friday, April 16 will be our last remote learning day of the school year. This will be an asynchronous day due to several staff members receiving the second dose of their COVID-19 vaccine. Please check your child's schedule in Google classroom and email your child's teacher with any questions.
2. We would appreciate snack donations for events in May. We would like to provide a healthy snack for each learner in grades 3, 4, and 5 on PSSA days. Additionally, our learners are very close to reaching our school-wide Project TEAM reward! They have been working so hard on their school work and also in following our COVID-safety procedures so we are planning two half-days of reward activities in May. We would appreciate donations of snacks and drinks for learners to enjoy during the Project TEAM reward. To sign up for either of these needs, please visit the Sign Up Genius site. The first in the list are sign-ups is for PSSA snacks followed by the Project TEAM reward snacks. We are asking for sign-ups to be completed by Friday, April 23 and snacks to be brought to school between Monday, April 26 and Thursday, April 29.
3. Summitview has again partnered with SchoolKidz to offer School Supply kits for the upcoming school year. These kits are customized by our teachers in each grade level based on their classroom needs. Purchasing a kit is completely optional. Kits will arrive at Summitview over the summer and will be distributed to your child's homeroom teacher for the first day of school. Order forms will be coming home this week with the option of ordering online or returning paper order forms with payment (cash or checks payable to SUMMITVIEW PTO). Online orders will be accepted through April 30, paper orders are due April 23.
4. A few reminders as we transition into warmer weather.
-Learners should bring a water bottle to school every day as our water fountains have been converted to bottle-filling stations. This will alleviate the need to provide disposable cups daily.
-Learners will continue to play outside at recess and teachers may add outdoor learning activities and mask breaks. Therefore, please make sure your child is wearing shoes that will protect his/her feet, such as sneakers. Flip flops are not permitted.
-Please reference the WASD Elementary handbook for information about learner dress code.
5. We have seen an increase in the number of learners coming to school without a mask. We have some extras but we do ask that you make sure your child comes to school with a face mask each day. Thank you for your continued assistance in following our COVID-19 safety protocols.
