Learners at Summitview experienced NED's Kindness Adventure today! Our new friend Maya took us on an adventure to Kenya. During the assembly, the Kenyan school children taught us some important kindness lessons:
- Different can be good
- Include others
- Caring is cool
- I can make friends anywhere
- Each person matters a lot
Today's assembly was free through the "Pay it Forward Program" and we will be doing the same for the next school. On Wednesday, October 8, Thursday, October 9, Tuesday, October 15, and Wednesday, October 16, items made by hand by artisans in Kenya will be on sale during lunches. Items range in price from $8-$15. Proceeds will be used to fund the assembly for the next school and will also be used to install clean water wells in Kenya. Participation is optional. If you decide to send money for your child, please put it in an envelope or baggie with their name and homeroom teacher listed. (Note that a limited number of items were sent to us but we will place orders that will be at Summitview in a few days.)
Pictured below are a few of our fifth graders who got to be part of our journey! We hope all of our learners will spread kindness throughout the year as they remember "You've got a super power when you smile!"
