Dear WASD Families,
We have been informed by Governor Wolf that all PA schools will remain closed through at least April 8th, 2020, for students. Staff would be allowed to return, provided COVID-19 is subsiding. Because this falls over the Holiday weekend and wanting to provide our staff a day to prepare for the students to return, WASD students would not physically return to school until Tuesday, April 14th.
WASD plans to provide Continuity of Education to students and families starting March 20th and progressing until April 6th at a minimum. Continuity of education is designed to keep the minds of our learner actively engaged. The WASD version of Continuity of Education will be in the form of Enrichment. Beginning next week Monday, March 30th, students will be receiving enrichment materials from individual teachers, departments, or grade levels. If a family has access to technology, a child can complete the activities and submit to teachers for feedback. If a family does not have access to technology, hard copy enrichment materials will be made available at designated times as communicated by building level principals. Should we receive more direction from the DPE on the model of education allowed beyond April 6th, we will be sure to keep you informed.
We will maintain a stable, reliable and steadfast guide to students and families throughout the mandatory shutdown period. We will do our very best to enrich the lives of our families daily as we would take care of our own. We only ask families to do the best they can to support the same cause.
